Restaurant of the Week- Standard

Standard Roswell, Restaurants on Canton

I love going to the Standard to enjoy their patio, live music, and sip Frozé (frozen rosé). The restaurant is situated in an old gas station, so there is a rustic charm about the place. The exterior design is a mix of brick and large garage windows that open up during the summertime, with a patio festooned with twinkle lights.

The interior of the restaurant is funky, modern, and colorful. The bar is painted blue and the walls are painted with colorful imagery. Even the barstools are colorful!

Peter and I have been to the Standard twice since moving to Roswell. Once we took our pup Rosie to sit outside on the patio, and the second time we went with my parents, two brothers, and grandparents. It is a good place if you have a large party, as they can easily accommodate groups of 6 or more!

The atmosphere is friendly, casual, and filled with plenty of televisions to catch the latest sporting event. They have live music on the weekend, which generates a decent crowd. The waitstaff is super friendly, the restaurant welcomes dogs, and the owner Dallas, is one of the nicest people I’ve met since settling in Roswell. I’ve been to the Standard five times now, so I have plenty of feedback about what dishes I recommend you try.

Artichoke Spinach Dip: Every time I go to the Standard, I have to order their famous artichoke spinach dip! It is made in-house and served in a huge garlic bread bowl! What is not to love about a creamy dip served in a warm (edible) bowl of carbs? This appetizer is rather large, but plenty to share amongst a group of 4-6 people.

Meatball platter: The fact that the Standard, an America fare restaurant, serves meatballs is a little odd, but I have to compliment this dish. They are homemade and surprisingly delicious with their own homemade marinara sauce, plus warm mozzarella cheese, savory parmesan, fresh basil, and plenty of garlic bread.

Garlic “Nots”: This is one of the Standards specialties. I don’t necessarily love garlic bread in general, but it is a nice starter if you’re hungry. I’d rather get my carbs between the artichoke dip and the meatball platter!

Wings: I have only tried the mild wings, but the Standard offers so many interesting flavors! I love the overall taste and texture of their wings. They were tender and messy- just how proper wing should be! Other flavors you can try include BBQ, blueberry Thai, garlic parmesan, BBQ honey mustard, lemon pepper, Lemonyaki, teriyaki, hot, and medium.

Seasonal Salad: Believe it or not, the Standard has some of the best salads I’ve ever tasted. I usually opt for their seasonal salad, made with spinach, mixed greens, candied pecans, sliced seasonal fruit, feta cheese, and a seasonal vinaigrette. I also ask for grilled chicken on top, which has always been cooked to perfection.

Spinach Salad: This is my other go-to salad on the menu. If I want something sweet, I go for the seasonal salad, but if I am in a savory mood, their spinach salad does the trick. It is made with bacon, onion, goat cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette. They also have a Caesar salad, a Greek salad, and a Caprese salad—lots of healthy options!

Meat Lovers Pizza: Honestly, this item speaks for itself. Made with marinara, mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, capicola, and prosciutto. All of the toppings are high-quality meats, and generously served. You can also order a cauliflower crust if you are gluten free!

Build your own pizza: If you want to make your own, you can choose from anchovies, artichokes, avocado, bacon, basil, bell peppers, bleu cheese, capicola, chicken (grilled or fried), feta Cheese, goat cheese, jalapeños, meatballs, mozzarella, mushrooms, olives, onions, pepperoni, pesto, pepperoncini’s, pickles, pineapple, prosciutto, provolone, salami, sausage, spinach, tomato.

Burger: The burger at the Standard is a spectacle. It is one of the largest burgers I’ve ever seen. It is not one, but two handmade seasoned burger patties, pepper jack cheese, American cheese, awesome sauce, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, fresh brioche bun, and a pickle on top! Not like you need it, but this dish is served with fries. Peter often orders a burger when we go out, and he was certainly impressed with the Standards take on this classic.

I hope you have the chance to enjoy the Standard soon!

Love,

S
