As a hopeless romantic, I couldn’t help but put together a Valentine’s Day post. It has been one of my favorite holidays since I was a little girl, mainly because it’s acceptable to wear both pink and red, and because society encourages the binge eating of fancy, heart shaped chocolate. Whether you’re planning a romantic evening with your husband, boyfriend, significant other, or your best girlfriends, don’t miss out on a chance to celebrate the love in you’re life.
Below, I have created a list of Valentine date ideas if you haven’t planned anything yet.
Cooking Class
Sur La Table, Williams Sonoma, and even bakeries like Milk Bar offer cooking classes! Pick a class that you know nothing about and come out with a new skill! I’ve always wanted to try rolling my own sushi or learn the tricks of an authentic French chef. Book: Sur La Table, Williams and Sonoma, and Milk bar Bakery.
In-home Massage
It doesn’t need to be valentines in order to treat yourself, but I would personally adore a couples massage ordered by Soothe. You can set up a time, duration, and type of massage, and a masseuse shows up at your door with everything needed for a home massage. To make the experience even better, light aroma therapy candles, put on a Spotify Spa playlist, and make a cup of lemon tea with honey. Book: Soothe
Romcom with the Girls
For those who would prefer to stay in with the girls rather than fight for a two top at that “really cool wine bar you’ve been wanting to try,” opt for a romcom marathon! Queue up all of the classics, from When Harry Met Sally, Bridget Jones Diary, Sex and the City, A Lot Like Love, and the Fifty Shades trilogy.
Wine tasting - Skip the Dinner Reservations
For those wanting to cook at home, I’d start the evening with a wine tasting! Now you have a reason to get all dressed up. There are plenty of crockpot recipes you can prep and leave without worry. I can’t say I own a crock pot, so I think I’d opt for a delivery pizza instead. Try wine tasting in DC at: District Winery.
Romantic Stay-cation
For those looking to do something special for their significant other, I suggest booking a luxe hotel in town! That way you can ditch the household chores and escape reality for an evening. Since I live in an apartment, I would love to soak in a hotel jacuzzi tub before bed. Don’t skip out on a room-service breakfast. Something about pancakes and coffee delivered to your bedside makes it taste that much sweeter. My favorite hotel in dc is: Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Book here.
Comedy Show
Recently single? Seize the opportunity to sling back mixed cocktails and laugh. I’m sure whatever you’re going through, the comedian will make sure his/her dating life is much worse. My go to spot for comedy is the DC Improv Comedy Club, check out their schedule here.
Sporting Event
Single men, head to a sporting event with the mantra “Valentines day is for the boys.” We won’t even judge you for it. Purchase tickets for events happening at Capital One Area here.
All my love,
